Afghan Foreign Minister Mohammad Hanif Atmar has called on Indian Foreign Minister S. Jayashankar to convene an emergency meeting of the United Nations Security Council on Afghanistan.
India is chairing the Security Council for the month of August. That is why Atmar called Jaishankar and requested him to convene an emergency meeting.
"The United Nations and the international community can play a key role in preventing Taliban violence and atrocities," Atmar wrote on Twitter.
